ATTRACTIONS

The Beach

Century 1 offers the most incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Assawoman Bay. Ocean City's shoreline stretches for 10 miles.  It would be no surprise to see a big group of dolphins dipping up and down on their way toward the jetty in the mornings, and then back again north in the evening.  Seagulls often visit close to the balconies for a quick peek and, on occasion, you will have a birds-eye view of the Coast Guard's rescue helicopter flying oceanside almost close enough to land on your balcony!  It is an awesome and comforting sight.

Hurry down to the beach early morning and reserve your space!  Umbrellas are for rent on the beach throughout the season (not through Century 1).  Lifeguards are extremely strong swimmers and really know their stuff.  They take charge of the beaches from 10:00am through 5:30pm in season.  Always watch and listen to the lifeguards and stay close to your little ones.

Enjoy the spectacular sights of the Atlantic Ocean as you have your morning coffee with family watching the sun come up in all it's natural glory. The sights and sounds from this magnificent balcony-studded oceanfront building are both spectacular and energizing for the soul.

Fishing

As you can imagine, Ocean City is a prime location for fishing as you have the Chesapeake Bay on one side and The Atlantic Ocean on the other.  Many mornings you will find someone down near the shore casting out for 'the Big One'.  Fishing is also allowed off the fishing pier, Rt. 50 bridge, jetty and bayside.  Headboats are plentiful for deep sea excursions.

The Ocean City Fishing Club opened its first pier and clubhouse in 1916.  It is the only fishing pier in the city that extends over the Atlantic Ocean.  The Ocean City pier extends 635-feet southeast from the Ocean City boardwalk near the 14th street entrance. Facilities include a clubhouse with deck, storage facility, bait storage (refrigerator/freezer), bait/fish cleaning tables, sink, and tent shelter.

The Boardwalk
The Boardwalk

The Boardwalk is the major tourist hub in Ocean City.  It is the place to be to rub elbows with all like-minded visitors.  It's see and be seen every morning, noon, and night.  It is food, tie-dyed shirts, jewelry, rides, beachwear, shops, attractions, parades of old and classic cars, and accommodations.  This is the place to be.  People from all over

the country flock here...

and for good reason.

It's hot!

Festivals, Concerts, Crafts & Special Events

Springfest and Sunfest in Ocean City are only two venues that make Ocean City a must-visit.  These two events offer large craft and food tents set up on the inlet parking area.  You will come across some very unique handmade crafts and delectable food and drink tents throughout the grounds.  These venues have brought some of the most famous singers around like Clint Black, Leann Rimes, Troy Adkins, ZZ Top, Loretta Lynn, and The Fabulous Hubcaps.  The Performing Arts Center in the Roland E. Powell Convention Center is Ocean City’s premier entertainment venue featuring famous musicians and comedians, plays and concerts. Dates and performers for 2021 are subject to COVID conditions and regulations.  Visit Events | Ocean City, Maryland (ococean.com) for updates as they are made available.

Thrasher's French Fries

Just how popular is Thrasher's French Fries on the Boardwalk next to the inlet parking lot?  Well, watch the webcam located atop their space at www.oceancitylive.com and see for yourself.  Ketchup not required!  OC locals and tourists alike love these golden fries drenched in vinegar and salt.  No wonder people flock to the Boardwalk in the summer heat just for a Thrasher's fix. The seagulls love Thrasher's, too, but please don't feed them.

Assateague Island National Seaside

Check out the Assateague Island website at  info@assateagueisland.com and see all the great family events going on daily in season.  It's located on the right hand side of Rt. 50 as you make your way to the beach.  First and foremost you must drive through the park and see the wild horses.  Read about their history at the link above and all of the events you can get into while there like camping, fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, hunting and much more.

Mornings happen just outside your balcony!

Ocean City's shoreline stretches for 10 miles along the Atlantic Ocean.  This scene is pretty typical during the summer months, but so worth the crowds, hot sand and sun, and cooling water.  Guaranteed!

Assawoman Bay

This beautiful view of Assawoman Bay is seen through the two huge bayfront windows from the comfort of your own Century I condo.  Seagulls find this spot particularly interesting and will gather by the thousands at times.  The fishing here intrigues and draws fisherman from all around with so many species available.  Depending on the wind and rain, you are apt to see this landscape change by the day.

Maryland Blue Crabs & Daily Catch

Of course, who can go to Ocean City and not long for those spicy steamed crabs!  With so many crab restaurants, shacks and shanty's, you won't have any trouble finding them, and then there are the carry-out's.  Easily pick up a half bushel and fire up the stove for some corn-on-the cobb, whip up some slaw, and pour your favorite ice-cold beverage.  And don't forget the extra Old Bay! The Maryland Blue Crab is revered all over the country.  But you don't have to stop there, OC is a diner's paradise with super indoor and outdoor eatteries up and down the town.
